I am reading I'll Give You the Sun. It is about a set of twins. Their names are Jude and Noah. The story is told from both of their perspectives the tricky part is you hear from Noah when he is 13 and from Jude when she is 16, so three years later. From Noah you hear that he and his twin were almost inseparable, then Jude became friends with the popular girls and stopped hanging out with Noah. Then, a new guy moves in next to Jude and Noah, Brian. He and Noah get along great! He only has met Jude once so far because Noah doesn't want his sister near him. You figure out that Noah is gay and likes Brian you get the impression that Brian likes Noah to but I am not sure because he is also flirting with other girls. Also, Noah is a major artist he loves to draw he draws all the time whether on paper or in his mind. That is part of how we get an insight in his mind. Jude also likes to build sculptures but not as much as Noah loves to draw. They are both planning on applying to CSA (California School of the Arts ). Noah is way more excited to get in than Jude but she is doing it because her mom said that the spirit of Jude and Noah's grandma said she should go and Jude had a special bond with her grandmother.
From Jude's point of view three years later she has gotten into CSA and Noah did not! Another shocking thing is that Noah and Jude's mom died. Also, something has happened between Noah and Jude and now they avoid being in the same room as each other. Noah now is jumping of cliffs, which he used to get shoved off of. Now, Jude has sworn of guys but we are not really sure as to completely why quite yet. She did meet this guy at a church who was really nice and she likes but won't do anything because she believed that boys bring bad luck. She runs into him again because he lives at this house where a guy lives who Jude needs to help her do a project for CSA or she might risk losing her spot, which at the beginning she wanted to happen. So, now she is worried she might not be able to help not seeing him all the time which could cause a problem for her.

This Spring Break was pretty great the first weekend I had a volleyball tournament which is pretty normal, but this time my aunt, cousin and my grandma came to watch me play! I was really nervous that I was going to mess up but I actually I played pretty good. My serves were very good and we were playing a new rotation and most of us did a great job picking it up. After that I didn't really do anything until Wednesday. Before that I just watched TV and packed for St. Louis.
While I was in St. Louis the first we did was have chicken strips becuase my grandma makes the best chicken strips ever. On, Thursday we went to The City Museum it was really fun I got to hang out with my sister and walk around with my grandma. My uncle lives in St. Louis so we all stayed at his house and he also came with us where ever we went. We also went to Dave and Busters to celebrate my birthday, it was really fun. I won a blanket. On, Friday we went to this place where you go into a giant bubble and tryto knock people over. It hurt when people knocked you over especially when you fell onto your knees. Then on Staurday we came home and on Sunday we relaxed. That was my Spring Break. 1. One of the main similarities between them is the way the show the conditions of the camp. "Night" goes into that a little farther than "The Boy in the Stripped Pjs". They are both faced with tough decisons that affects the welling being of other people. In "Night" Elie was debating whether or not to help his dad when he was getting beat by the S.S. officer he ended up not helping which his dad ended up dying becuase he was hit in the face. In "The Boy in the Stripped Pjs" Bruno was deciding whether or not to tell the officer that he gave Schmuel the food. He ended up telling the oficer that Schmuel had stolen the food. They are also different becuase "Night" was all about the perspective of a jew inside the concentration camp. While "The Boy in the Stipped Pjs" was from the perspectiveof soemone who lived by the concentration camp.
2. I am going to analyze Bruno from "The Boy in the Stripped Pjs". He was a 8 year old boy who lived in the German countryside. He loved to explore which got him into trouble. He didn't understand what was happening in the world. He was not very excited about moving to the country but learns to loveit when he meets Schmuel. He was a pretty short person and had brown hair. When he figured out Schmuel was a jew, which was supposed to be the enemy, he didn't care he still wanted to be his friend. He always had a good look on life and wanted to try to hang out with Schmuel whenever he could. 3. My veiws have changed sinced we started the unit. I always knew the concentration cmaps were a bad place but I could have never imagined that it could be that bad. I also understood soem people thought it was the right thing to do but I didn't know that they really thought that jews didn't even qualify as hman being. Also, how some people, like Elsa, didn't like what was happening to the jews but they didn't really do anything. They just kind of went on with life, they couldn't really do anything to stop it without losing their own lives as a result. 4. I liked the book better becuase I don't like watching sad movies. With books it is harder to actually imagine what is really hapening with them. With movies you don't really have to imaginebecuaseyou can look and it is right there. Plus, "Night" isn't as sad in the end like "The Boy in the Stripped Pjs" was. 5. I just was wondering how they could have moved on from that? How the dad could keep working at the place where his son had been killed? Words of the Wiser
Pg. 78 This happened when he was in the infirmary and another patient was telling him that he should not be excited to be here becuase they have selections alot more often than anywhere else so he should try and recover as soon as possible so that he wouldn't die. The life lesson would be that if something seems to good to be true it usually is. This affects the charecter becuase he realizes that he is even less valuable to the Nazi's now that he was injured. Tough Questions Pg. 111 This was when he was trying to decide to what to do about his father. He father was calling out to him but he didn't respond becuase he was afraid of getting beaten by the S.S. officers. He dad had just got it in the face by one of officers and was calling out at him to get him a glass of water. The makes we wonder about how afraid he must have been to ot his help his father out. It is clearly shown that he loved his father very much and for him to to helped he must have been so afraid. Memory Moment Pg. 100 This was when he looks foward and remembers when this girl was throwing coins out to the poor so that she could watch them fight for it. He had asked her to stop and she said that he liked helping the poor. This memory id important becuase it reminded him of the time he saw people he knew die becuase people were fighting for bread. This would be a really tramatic event for a person especially a sixteen year old. If I were President of The United States one of my top priorities would to make more jobs for people who don't have a college education. One fo the biggest problems in America is that people are in poverty and they don't have a way to get out of it. Some people are in poverty so they can't afford to go to college which means they can't get a good paying job or any job at all. Which means they can't get out of poverty. They can stay at shelters but they can only stay there for so long. The way I would try to get this accomplished is by having a way to get people an education without them having to pay all of that money.
Another one of priorities would be to try and make health care more affordable. If you get sick or break a bone it cost a lot of money to get the help you need. Some people don't get reqular check ups becuase they have don't have enogh money to get them. If we could make health care more affordable then we could have a healthier America. A way to accomplish this is to have people pay less for their treatment and have more money from the goverment to pay for the supplies. Another priority would be to try and save more forests becuase the forest we chop down the more gas we use and the less clean air we will have. Plus, a lot of animals are losing their habitat becuase of this which means our food supply could be going with the forests. The way to accomplish this is to make more national parks and preserve. This would save the forests and the animals. Also, it would save the gas and energy we use to cut them down. Over winter break I had Christmas with my grandma, my Uncle Nathan, my step-sister, and my family who already lives at my house. My grandma and grandpa live in Charles City, IA. My Uncle Nathan lives in St. Louis and came up to stay for about a week. We all opened presents and played pictionary and a bunch of other games. we had a big fancy diner with ham and mashed potatoes. It was so much fun to hang out with all of the people on my mom sides of the family. I had more than one Christmas though.
Then on Chirstmas I went over to my dads and we went up to Cedar Falls for Christams with my dads mom. My dads parents are divorced so we have a Christmas with my grandma and one with my grandpa. When I went to my grandmas the rest of my dads side of the family came over. My dad has two brothers, his older brother Justin is married and has two kids, a son and a daughter. His younger brother is married and has 3 kids, 2 daughters and a son. My dad also has a sister who just got maried and now has a step-dughter and a step-son. We all got to togther and had so much fun. We all got together again at my uncle's house and had Christmas with my grandpa. Over all I had a great winter break. I just read an article about 8 life skills an 18 year old should have. They talk about all the things that they think every 18 should have ready no matter what. The first one is about how they should be able to talk to strangers. The second one is about how you need be able to find yourself arounfd where ever you are living. The third one is all about how you have to manage your schedule and homework to get things done on time. The fourth one is about how they must be able to help aroung the household they are living at. The fifth one is about how you have to be able to solve your interpersonal problems in a safe and effective way. The sixth one is about how 18 year olds have to be able cope with work or school problems. The seventh one is about how you have to be able to earn and manage your own money. The eighth, and final one, is about how you have to be able to take risks to be able to achieve your goals.
I think for being 13 I am in pretty good shape to be able to accomplish this list before I turn 18. The first one I need to work I don't like talking to people I don't know especially when I am doing it over the phone. The second one I can fully do it, if you put me anywhere in Iowa City I could find my way home. The third I can manage my schedule very well, but I don't always follow through on my schedule becuase I procrastinate a lot. The fourth one I can accomplish right now I can clean, do laundry and cook most foods. The fifth one I think I pretty much have done, I have a little bit of a temper sometimes. The sixth one I think I can say I can effectivly get through hoemwork related problems. The seventh one I don't earn money on a regular basis, but I can manage my money pretty well. The last one is the one I have to work on the most if I don't have to do anything risky I normally don't. That is my rating of myself on the list. I am pretty sure that I will be able to complete this by the time I turn 18. If I could replace any rule what would it be and how would you replace? I choose that I am only allowed to watch 1 hour of Nexflix. My mom established this rule when we went over on out internet usage. The rule is very inconvenient for me because I am in the middle of watching a series and I can only watch 2 episodes a day at my mom's house. I know that some people don't have Netfix or a TV at all but I would like to watch what I want when I want to watch it. I would replace that rule with a us being able to watch how ever many hours we want to watch. Since, we would probaly go over our limit then maybe we could help out with more chores to make up for the extra money. That is what I would do if I could change any rule that I wanted.
What am I thankful for? I am thankful for so many things I am thankful for here are my top two things. I am very thankful for my family. People in your life can change all the time, but your family is a constant. They are always by my side whenever I need them. I couldn't ask for a better family then the one I have. I love them very much. They are what I am most thankful for.
The other thing I am very thankful for is my friends. Your friends can change through out your life but some of them stick with you through out your whole life. Even the ones who come and go they still play an important role in my life. They mean a lot to me. Your real friends will come over to your house whenever you need themand help you through what ever. I appreciate all of my best friends and all of my other friends. Thoose are the two things I am most thankful for. |
